Leora Mona Yashari is a New York-based writer, reporter, designer and editor. She's written for Teen Vogue, Vanity Fair, Nylon, The Daily Beast, Lenny Letter, and The Forward.
A Los Angeles native, she attended Boston University where she worked as the editor-in-chief of the school's magazine, The Buzz. She spent three years working as an editorial associate at Vanity Fair under the magazine's production department. In addition to writing for vanity fair.com, Leora produced the magazine's iPhone edition and edited the U.K. edition.
Following her work on the Vanity Fair staff, Leora pursued freelance writing and editing opportunities across both print and digital platforms. She penned a profile series of transgender candidates running for political offices in the United States for Teen Vogue. Four of six candidates were elected into office in a historic 2017 election, including Danica Roem and Andrea Jenkins. In addition to Teen Vogue, she has written features for The Daily Beast, Nylon, and Lenny Letter, and wrote a column for The Forward about sexual silence in the Persian Jewish community in Los Angeles.
Leora is a passionate advocate of women issues, LGBTQ issues, and social justice. She works with a variety of advocacy organizations across the country in her editorial work. She is currently continuing her freelance writing while working as the West Coast Editor of The Culture Trip and awkwardly writing about herself in the third person.
